My Story

Hey, I’m Joe. When I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, I felt completely unprepared.

I had questions about blood sugar, food, medications, exercise, and what I was supposed to change first. But after a short appointment and a prescription for Ozempic that could cost around $1,300 a month, I still didn’t feel like I understood what managing diabetes actually looked like day to day.

So I started researching on my own.

That opened the door to an overwhelming amount of information—contradictory articles, confusing advice, online groups full of mixed opinions, and plenty of people promising a quick fix.

I didn’t need more noise. I needed clear, practical information I could actually use.

That’s where my journey really started.

I’m not the type to just accept deafeat. So I started:

Exercising

Experimenting with exercise (I hate the gym, had to find what works for me)

Testing

Testing my blood sugar obsessively (learning what actually affects it)

Medicating

Researching medications (there’s cheaper stuff than Ozempic that actually works)

Supplements

Trying different supplements (some work, most don’t)

Connecting

Talking to people who’ve been dealing with this longer than me

And I started getting results

In six months, my A1C went from 7.8 to 5.9, I lost 25 pounds, and I started feeling like I had real energy again.

But the biggest lesson has been that diabetes management is never really “finished.” I’m still learning all the time—testing new habits, asking better questions, talking with people who know more than I do, and adjusting what I think based on what I learn.

That’s why I started sharing my experience.

I’m not here to be your guru or pretend I have all the answers. I’m just a guy living with diabetes, documenting what’s working for me, what I’m learning, and what I wish I had understood sooner.

If something from my journey helps make yours a little clearer, then this is doing exactly what I hoped it would.
